A Flying V, Trapped
When Gibson decided to update the look of its guitars in the late 1950’s, as the seeds of hard rock were being sown, the Flying V was its flagship. It caught on with a few heavy rockers, but it was not a success until it was rereleased ten years later, after Jimi Hendrix had shown what it could do. This Flying V, of course, will play no rock, but it has the kind of unselfconscious penache that made its musical colleague a powerful statement (and, incidentally, an excellent investment).
